    HARPER CELEBRATES ST PATRICK'S DAY

    A Shropshire University College celebrated St Patrick’s Day in style at its annual Paddy’s Ball. St Patrick's Day Celebrations at Harper Adams Students at Harper Adams University College, Shropshire, were joined by friends from nearby Newport and ex-students who simply couldn’t resist one of the most popular– and most well attended – events in the college’s busy social calendar. More than 1,100 revellers partied the night away on March 19 to ceilidh band Big Jack and the Weedkillers, and The Big Deal, who travelled over from Ireland to play at the ball. Meanwhile student Mark Cox’s DJ skills were a big hit, as were the bucking bronco, giant inflatables and hair-raising bungee run.

    “It was a fun night,” said organiser and student Maeve Moran. “People were saying it was one of the best balls they have been to in ages.”

    Paddy’s Ball is organised by Harper Ireland, one of the college’s most popular and dynamic societies, which brings together students from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. As well as looking after fellow members and offering practical help such as shared trips home, it has a well deserved reputation for its excellent social events.
